Andy gets into the groove at the Press Launch for the Urban Music Awards 2010...

On Wednesday 14th July, Andy attended and hosted the press launch for the 8th Urban Music Awards at the ultra cool Tuatara in Chelsea, London alongside former Big Brother contestant Rachel White where they helped to confirm the list of nominees for the event on 18th September 2010.

Throughout the night, Andy mixed and mingled with some of the key figures within the music industry, event organizers and press to offer his support for urban music and was delighted to be in such great company which included Damage, Sade and Courtney Pine CBE to name but a few.

Offering his commitment and support to the promotion of Urban music, Andy explains “The "Urban Music Awards" is so important for the growth of British and international artist's signed and unsigned because it shows recognition for all the hard work these acts put in through the years also for individuals that may not be in the spotlight but have contributed to the popularity of the genre and I for one will do what I can to help LONG LIVE URBAN MUSIC”.

Andy amazes guests at Farmfoods Moulin Rogue Evening... 

On Monday 28th and Wednesday 30th June 2010 at The Walkers Stadium Leicester, Andy was delighted to attend and perform at the first of Farmfoods Moulin Rogue Evenings, which continue throughout the year as Farmfoods, the frozen foods specialists reward their staff by putting on 12 fabulous, themed events nationwide.

After the champagne reception, fine dining and wine; Andy made sure that even the most reluctant revelers were up on the dance floor, toe tapping and shaking their funky stuff throughout his 40 minute set. From the soulful funky beats of Even If to a powerful acapella rendition of The Greatest Love of All Andy’s natural stage presence and soulful voice ensured the dance floor was full and judging by the rapturous applauds and cheers from the guests; they were definitely left wanting more!!!

The fabulous Willie Thorne, former snooker player and current TV personality was on hand to host the evenings, Leeds United and England footballer Duncan McKenzie provided a funny and entertaining insight into the bygone world of football past whilst the fabulous vocalist and pianist Anthony Kinsey entertained guests during the champagne reception and throughout dinner. 

There is no doubt that Andy made certain both evenings were X-tra special, not only taking to the stage and performing but also by signing autographs, having his picture taken with guests and helping out at the charity raffle. After two unforgettable evenings, Andy is looking forward to the remaining events, taking to the stage and making sure all the guests have an extraordinary time in Leeds, Runcorn, Oxford and Scotland.

Andy Set for Incredible Charity Bike Ride

Andy AbrahamAndy Abraham is set for one of the biggest challenges of his life as he will attempt to ride from London to Paris covering an amazing 300 miles in just four days to raise money for ever-deserving charity; The Childhood Eye Cancer Trust, of which Andy is a patron.

The ride will begin in London on the 8th September at Blackheath and Andy will arrive in Paris on the 12th September. Andy has not ridden a bike since childhood but has already been in training in the gym and is set to start training with fellow rider, Nottingham Hotelier James Blick of The Finesse Collection, a group of luxury hotels in the East Midlands.

The Childhood Eye Cancer Trust (CHECT) is a small charity that supports the families of young infants diagnosed with a rare eye cancer - Retinoblastoma (Rb). Andy is a patron of the charity and has set the bar high for his first fundraising challenge. As well as the challenging bike ride, Andy will be helping to publicise CHECT as much as possible when performing and making appearances on television.

Andy recently visited the Live at Studio Five team to talk about the Eurovision Song contest, discuss his plans for writing new material and of course mention the bike ride!

Andy is optimistic for the bike ride saying;

“I haven’t been on a bike for years and this will certainly be a challenge and I am looking forward to putting in the training and taking the challenge on in September, CHECT is such a great cause and as patron I felt the ride would be an ideal way in which I could help to raise money for the them”.

Andy on Live From Studio Five 

Andy joined his Arsenal hero Ian Wright and fellow presenters Kate Walsh and Emma Willis to talk about this year’s Eurovision entry for the UK.

Andy spoke at length about his time on the X Factor and Eurovision citing the contest as the perfect platform to go on to do other projects within the music and television industry.

Andy mentioned writing new material as well as his performance at Theo Walcott’s birthday bash earlier this year. After the show Andy was really pleased how it went, he said,

"Meeting Ian Wright was a real highlight, he was a total legend at Arsenal and he is such a great guy to speak with.

The show went really well and it was great to mention all the various projects I have coming up! Thanks to all my fans for watching and watch this space as there are even more exciting projects coming up!”

 

Andy Abraham signs with new management

Andy is set to embark on a new chapter of his life after signing with sports and celebrity management specialists Champions (UK) Plc.

Since leaving the X Factor, Andy has concentrated on his solo career culminating in his Platinum selling first album reaching No 2 in the UK album charts and No1 in Ireland. Following the success of his first album, Andy released a further two albums, Gold selling ‘Soul Man’ and ‘Even If’.

In 2008 he represented the UK in the Eurovision song contest with the track; ‘Even if’. This was after he was selected to participate in ‘Eurovision- your decision’ the UK contest hosted by Terry Wogan, where he saw off tough competition from favourite Michelle Gayle.

Andy is now ready to build his fantastic career even further. Signing with Champions (UK) Plc will help him to enhance his capabilities and ultimately allow the ‘Soul Man’ to enjoy the continued success he deserves.

Andy joins the long-established celebrity and sports management company who also represent several other celebrities including; Coronation Street’s William Roache MBE, former Leicester and England goalkeeper Peter Shilton MBE OBE and world snooker’s ‘Mr Maximum’ Willie Thorne.

Andy Visits Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People  

Last week Andy visited the ever-deserving Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People. Rainbows, based in Loughborough is a purpose-built children’s hospice who are dedicated to meeting the needs of children and young people from the East Midlands who are all affected by life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. Celebrating its 15th year, Rainbows opened its doors to Andy and his wife Denise to show the incredible work undertaken within the warm, safe and friendly environment.

Devoted Rainbows staff gave Andy a tour of the hospice, demonstrating the various activities that the children enjoy when they come to stay. He met catering staff as well as the carers in charge of ensuring the children and their families have a relaxing and enjoyable stay when they take residence at Rainbows.

Andy found the experience heart-warming and eye opening, he said;
“I didn’t really know what to expect when I arrived but I found a really warm, friendly, amazing set of people that devote their time to ensuring that children’s lives, however short or long, are enjoyed. The work that Rainbows carry out is incredible; this is an incredibly worthwhile cause.”
